Are bird flu, swine flu, mexican flu, dutch flu, spanish flu, hongkongflu, Sars...not all the same thing ?

Is this mexican flu major? I am going to Southern USA in 2 weeks!?
I am travelling from the UK to California in 2 weeks and all this news on the TV begins to worry me. Is there anything I should do to prevent exposure? I know I seem to be taking this a tad seriously but many people have died. No stupid answers please. I hope everyone is safe

Are they exaggerating how bad the mexican flu is?
My sister had the mexican flu according to our doctor. So I stayed home with her an entire day the first day, with her coughing and everything. I didn't wash my hands my hands weren't dirty give me a break lol and I took a shower before I went to bed , I touched my face, my lips, my nose, my eyes and I didn't get the mexican flu and enough time has passed for me to know I'm not gonna get it from her anymore . And my sister got better anyway, I think they're exaggerating

Why is it that even though, all the cases of Mexican flu has originated in Mexico?
the Governments of all other countries continue to permit " freedom of travel" to and from that country? So far, the only the cases of this potentially killer disease outside Mexico have been people who have returned from that country. Surely, even at this late stage, the containment of the spread of this flu virus would be greatly assisted by the prohibiting of travel to the infected Country. How many people will have to die before our inert Governments decide to take positive preventative action?I am most certainly not suggesting that people who are already there should be denied the right to return home. I am saying that travel to Mexico should be banned. If people defy that ban then they should be placed in quarantine until cleared by the medical authorities.Oh, well " only one" person has died from Mexican flu in the U.S.of A. As none of us are the heart broken relatives of that poor baby I suppose that is o.k.,then. Until we take decisive, proactive steps to contain this deadly disease we will always be playing a " catch up" game, with the virus having the freedom to run rampant and dictate the rules, metaphoratically speaking. There will always be the " do nothing brigade" who are forever ready to present an argument why we should all adopt their pathetic and extremly dangerous " do nothing" policy. To try to argue that other forms of flu has killed more people than Mexian flu, which is in it's very early stages is stupidity in the extreme. Like, lets do nothing about drunken driving as more people get killed through speeding. " HUH"

Do you know people who have the Mexican flu?
And if so how are they doing?I am really curious how ill people really are and how the symptoms differ from ordinary flu.

Why is "swine flu" not being named "Mexican flu"?
It is convention to name new flu strains after the place they were first identified or were known to have spread from Asian flu, Spanish flu, etc. , so why isn't this outrbeak known as Mexican flu?

Swine Flu or Mexican Flu...most of these people weren't near any pigs but they were near other people?
Bird flu is called bird flu because you get it from birds. Swine flu you get from going to Mexico and being around people who have been to Mexico or were exposed to other people who were in Mexico

This Mexican flu that has been on the news this morning. What are the symptoms?
What are the symptoms I feel appositely s t with a cough and a cold for a week now, and i just cannot shake it of.

MEXICAN FLU KILLS MILLIONS?
I'm thinking on writing a script for a movie that will be a blockbuster The story begins around 2009 in Mexico. A group of American teens, during a crazy spring break, go to a lost farm in which they meet these hot and extremely beautiful woman. i'm thinking in JLO, Selma and Longoria for these roles . The 3 students return home New York of course but as they're crossing the USA by car, with various stops they infect almost the entire American population with the Mexican flu. The final part is when they reach Washington and the president is in danger. I'm thinking in a big surprising twist in this end, when the President, himself, has in his power, the secret code for a vaccine against the flu because... it was a creation of a mega secret group of CIA. i'm thinking put Samuel Jackson as the president, Woody Allen as the mad scientist and the Jonas Brothers as the unfortunate american students infected by the swine flu..

Mexican flu epidemic worse than portrayed?
My husband's mother called us from Mexico City . She said that it is getting worse because now the government is allowed to search houses and take sick people away. She is very worried and thinks more people have died than they are saying. Do you think that the flu epidemic is worse than the Mexican government is letting on?

Why does Israel call the Swine flu the Mexican flu?
google.com hostednews ap article ALeqM5ieHZRubAS3lyjn2GBiCPkXkHrXwwD97QROAG0Is it still called Asian Flu? or is that bad taste too.And what do muslims call Swine Flu?And what do the swine call it?

Do you think the Mexican flu is that bad?
I think there are worse diseases out there, that can kill you sooner, or that would leave a damage for life in your body. What is your view about it?

Why is it that even though, all the cases of Mexican flu has originated in Mexico?
the Governments of all other countries continue to permit " freedom of travel" to and from that country? So far, the only the cases of this potentially killer disease outside Mexico have been people who have returned from that country. Surely, even at this late stage, the containment of the spread of this flu virus would be greatly assisted by the prohibiting of travel to the infected Country. How many people will have to die before our inert Governments decide to take positive preventative action? This question got split in two with the other one receiving the greater number of replies. In it I suggested that all two way travel to mexico should be prohibited with all travellers being quarantined until declared " free of infection" by the medical authorities. If we do not take positive ,proactive measures to contain this deadly and potentially pandemic disease then we will always be in a " catch up" situation with this lethal virus being allowed to run rampant. Of course you will always have the pathetic and dangerous, " lets sit back and do nothing brigade" . People will start dying with from this strain of flu and the authorities know it. By the time they get around to taking the necessary and racical steps the virus will have established itself through the world. The first two steps to assist in containing the disease should be a total ban on two way trips to Mexico and strict quarantine on all travellers returning home. Mexican tourists should of course be totally banned
